Hi Folks, How are you doing? Thanks for your interest in 7iDigital.
Going by the stream of people registering and questions received
from media, it reinforces our belief that there is a clear and unmet
need for low cost laptop notebooks.

There is a need for someone somewhere to be willing to take the lead in breaking down the prices, because the current prices of branded laptop notebooks are really inflated due to their huge fixed costs and marketing expenditure.

Remember when you see large glitzy advertising on TV, Stadiums,
and Billboards, it is you who is paying for it ultimately!

Now, with today’s professional and social networking channels,
its possible to save on many of these costs, and pass the savings
to the buyer - and that’s part of our plan.

We plan to tell it like it is on this blog, answer questions, put
complete support material and videos (developed and reviewed by
some of the best professionals out there) so that our customers
can experience low costs.

Btw, just today, there was a news report of Intel planning to launch
sub-$300 laptop, though no time frame was given.

Intel, the leading chip maker, is right in its market assessment.
Over the last two years, the growth rates of notebooks have
overtaken that of the desktops.

One of the most frequent questions we have got is this:
“What are the specs for your laptops?
And what all can one do with them?”

Here’s our Answer:

We are committed to bringing good quality laptops at affordable
prices, but we will not offer weak specs like some companies are
doing.

For example, there are some models with prices like Rs 14,500/ $350 etc
but not even fully functional with just 128 MB RAM and a slow processor
under 500 MHz - you can’t do much with those specs!
These two parameters are important for performance, while the hard drive
or storage is becoming cheap and one can easily add 20GB through a
flash drive.

So when we say low cost laptops, we are not going to cut corners on
essential capabilities. We want to address the need for a functional
laptop notebook at low cost that will support the full range
normal home usage - e.g. Internet, email, audio-video playback,
office applications, document editing etc.

While our focus is to offer affordable low cost laptops, we will also
offer a couple of high performance models that can be used
for computing intensive works like software development, gaming,
etc. These will be with 1-2 GB RAM and a high-end processor.

Our notebooks will support two operating systems: Microsoft Windows and Linux — our customers can choose. We are bound by business agreements and can’t share much details till July.

We are planning to make these laptop notebooks worldwide. We believe many of our buyers will are located outside India and they would like to buy a laptop for their family members in India.

We believe the affordable price of our laptop notebooks will enable people (both students and professionals) to buy new units for themselves rather than searching for old refurbished units or staying stuck with desktops. Mobile computing is the way to go.

Reputation is important to us and we will not offer you something that we would not buy for our own friends and family members.
