Mechanical Engineers are the ones that design the systems typically. Customers usually hire them first to design the systems. For small scale non-critical jobs, we can design the system at Smith Sheet Metal without an issue. Or in some occasions, we will provide the engineer for the customer.

Smith Sheet Metal is a member of SMACNA (Sheet Metal and Air Conditioners National Association). Our employees are members of the Local 280 Sheet Metal Workers Union. And our apprentices attend the Sheet metal Workers Training Centre. Every one of our employees are registered and trained through a four year apprenticeship and once completed, are ticketed ‘RED Seal Journeypersons’.

We also have certified refrigeration technicians on our staff list.

Our HVAC Fabrication team is committed to the highest levels of standards and craftsmanship. We will take care of all the fabrication components – even if they have to be sourced externally. We currently have 15 qualified HVAC technicians in the field who are committed and ready for any scope of an HVAC installation project. 

We have 6 field vehicles and a 5 ton Hino Flat Deck truck for hauling our more critical items or rush deliveries. We also have three scissor lifts for working inside larger commercial buildings for high elevation work. All workers are bondable and all projects are insured.

We have strong relationships with specialized crane companies for hoisting materials to the roof of buildings as required.

We take care of every single aspect of the system installation and delivery (no matter what the component size or shape) and we take care of every single installation detail (cranes, crew, materials, tools etc).

We do a large number of projects for restaurants. When we work on Restaurant projects, there are a lot of aspects that we take care of typically.

  • All of the sheet metal ducting for the HVAC systems built to SMACNA standards.
  • The Air conditioning equipment.
  • The various exhaust fans.
  • The kitchen exhaust fan.
  • The welded kitchen exhaust duct which is built to the NFPA-96 fire code.
  • The stainless steel kitchen exhaust canopies and back wall.
  • The stainless steel steam dishwasher hood.
  • The gas fired Make Up Air System
  • The A-ticket start up of the gas fired MUA unit.
  • The fire suppression system for the kitchen

In some situations we will provide some of the custom stainless steel fabrications for inside the kitchen.
